Book: Poirot Investigates

Book 3 of the Hercule Poirot series follows Poirot on many small adventures that are completely independent. This was a fast read however, I'm personally not a fan of compilations of multiple stories "book". The writing style is good, adventures are interesting although I must warn you there is a chapter where a woman thinks her son is cursed by an ancient pharaoh and Poirot genuinely believes in the supernatural and uses a pentagram to ward off some "evil" spirit. If you're interested in that kind of thing enjoy, if not feel free to skip that chapter, like I did. This book gets 2,5 stars out of 5 from me. Kat K out-

Book: The Woman in the White Kimono

Dual Narration Time! Travel back in time to 1957 Japan and experience the love between Naoko Nakamura and Hajime, told exclusively through Naoko's perspective. The other half of the story takes place in the present-day USA following Tori Kovac as she takes care of her dying father and learns about his past.   The Summary (Spoilers!) After his death she finds out it was a return and after reading said letter it turns out that she has a half-sister that he never told her about. Full of grief, anger, and wanting to hold up his honor , Tori travels to Japan to find Naoko and the truth. Back in 1957, Naoko wants to marry Jimmy (Hajime) Kovac, but her family doesn't approve because he's an American. After running away and marrying him any way she considers herself banished. One day she decides to spy on her family from afar only to find out her mother died in her abs...

Graphic Novel: Watchmen

This graphic novel was first published in 1985 (also takes place in '85). It's about masked "Heroes" and their effect on the World. Basically, what if all heroes were insecure jerks who did unheroic things (like murder)? Would they still be heroes? Does doing bad things with good intent justify horrible actions? These are the questions it brings up and doesn't really answer, at best it's a maybe.     Mainly there is a lot of gross imagery, a lot of sexism (seriously a female character is nearly raped, and then she says it was just as much as her fault as his), and random pages of text that don't add to the plot. Sometimes they're excerpts of someone's autobiography, sometimes fake news articles, and one time a psychological analysis on analyzing owls. No not on the owls themselves an analysis on analyzing owls. What does that have to do with anything? Also, there's this black kid who reads a disturbing comic book at a newsstand, and wheneve...
